Community Description
Port Chalmers Kindergarten is located in the West Harbour suburb of Port Chalmers 12 kilometres from Dunedin city. Children attend our service from the many outlying communities eg Ravensbourne, St Leonards, Aramoana, Long Beach, Purakanui, Sawyers Bay, Blue Skin Bay and beyond. We are situated within walking distance to Port Chalmers Primary School who we make regular connections with.
The community are intimately involved in the hub of this kindergarten. We are very proud of our outdoor area which reflects the local cultural context of a harbour town as well as the neighbouring Orokonui Eco Sanctuary with whom we have a working relationship for our Eco Warriors programme. We embrace diversity. We value sustainable practice and taking care of our treasured environment.
Children attend kindergarten 8.30am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday and we remain open during term breaks.
