Kindergarten: Helen Deem (Operating for 40 children)

Mon: 12pm – 4.30pm Tues: 8:30am – 1:30pm Weds: 8.15 – 4.30pm Thurs: 8.30am – 1.30pm Fri: 10.30am – 2.45pm

Community Description
Helen Deem is located in the heart of St Clair within walking distance to the beach and cafes.  We celebrate our socioculturally diverse community, many of whom are English language learners.  Children attend kindergarten 8.30am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday and we remain open during term breaks.

Helen Deem prides itself on its creative, well-resourced programme and extensive outdoor learning environment that encourages children to take managed risks and experience fun challenges, enabling young children to be capable competent explorers of the great outdoors. Our competent kaiako also lead our key learning priorities: Social and Emotional Competency/Kotahitanga; Oral Language and Communication/Mana Reo and Kaitiakitanga.

Our Code, Our Standards

The Code sets out the high standards for ethical behaviour that are expected of every teacher; the Standards describe the expectations of effective teaching practice. On appointment as a teacher within Dunedin Kindergartens there is an expectation that you will always adhere to the values within the code and meet the Standards for the Teaching Profession.
