Community Description

Grants Braes Kindergarten is located at 100 Belford Street, Waverley. Grants Braes has links with the wider Otago Peninsula community and feed local schools including Grants Braes, Macandrew Bay, Anderson’s Bay, St Brigid’s, Broad Bay, Portobello and others.

The kindergarten is supported by enthusiastic and active parents as well as a committee of parents that fundraise to provide extras. The kindergarten is therefore well resourced with up-to-date equipment and facilities.

The teaching team are committed to providing an environment that is current and where a sociocultural approach to learning and teaching is valued and strong links between the kindergarten and home is important.

The teachers believe in providing a warm, caring and safe environment that empowers and supports children, teachers, families and whānau. In this community we recognise ongoing and diverse learning pathways to enable children to be confident and competent lifelong learners.

Children attend kindergarten 8.30am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday and we remain open during term breaks.

Our Code, Our Standards:

The Code sets out the high standards for ethical behaviour that are expected of every teacher; the Standards describe the expectations of effective teaching practice. On appointment as a teacher within Dunedin Kindergartens there is an expectation that you will always adhere to the values within the code and meet the Standards for the Teaching Profession.

Specific Requirements:

Hours of work are 8 hours per day (30 minute lunchtime is unpaid)
